From 6 to 9 May 2024, UFS Career Services hosted its annual Natural and Agricultural Sciences Career Week, wrapping it up with a Career Fair on 9 May. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are crucial in helping us understand the world and make predictions. The opportunities in these fields will continue to expand and jobs may look much different in the future – therefore students need to keep in touch with the developments.
The programme began with a discussion on the possibilities offered by a BSc degree, followed by a session focused on plant breeding – essential for global food security. SA Truck Bodies presented a session oncareer prospects in engineering, and a session was devoted to unpacking the entire agricultural value chain to inform students about all the career opportunities in the industry.
The route to becoming a consultant was explained, and as with all career weeks, special attention was paid to marketing yourself, CV writing, and building an impactful LinkedIn profile.
