1. What impact has GradStar had on your life in 2018?

The exposure that GradStar 2018 offered broadened my understanding of what top companies look for when recruiting young talent. Equally, while attending the GradStar Awards I was inspired by the success stories of the market-leading businessmen and -women. Since GradStar, I have been filled with a new-found motivation to excel further in all to which I apply myself to the best of my ability, as there are endless opportunities available in the working world.

2. How do you stay motivated and on track with your studies?

It is a myth to have excellent time management. The journey this far has been quite exhausting and my mechanism to stay on par is to pace myself. The drive to obtain my degree is the core of my motivation. When in a slump, I revisit my dreams and aspirations to be a valued individual in the workplace and a positive contributor to the environment I find myself in. These thoughts kick me back into gear and I take on the next stretch. Staying optimistic and not allowing a setback such as a poor result to keep me down for long threads through the determination to finish my degree.  A good break from the academic pressures is important to me and hence I get myself involved in other initiatives to completely derail my thoughts until I return to the books.

3. What drives you to excel in your studies?

I think to have the certainty of being qualified in a discipline forms the foundation of the desire to excel. Furthermore, the fact that I look forward to practically apply my knowledge in the workforce keeps the drive burning. Through these efforts I am also driven to bring pride to my family as well as inspire all those whom I may come across during my academic journey.

4. Will you recommend GradStar to other students? Why/Why not?

I would definitely recommend GradStar to all students. The exposure you get from attending the awards function and networking event is filled with opportunities to grow and develop soft skills that could make you an outstanding candidate. The platform created by GradStar enables students to gain insight into sectors across multiple areas of interests. In addition to the stimulating environment, the benefit of meeting like-minded students from other universities and making new connections makes the effort put in even more worth it.

5. What are your plans for 2019?

2019 will be my final year of undergraduate studies for my degree. Besides attending class, I will also be in-between performing my duties as part of the SRC and working as a student assistant at a local firm.
