UFS flies flag at half-mast in honour of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela
Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela-Mandela.

Known to many as the Mother of the Nation, Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela-Mandela has died at the age of 81 on Monday 2 April 2018. She passed away after a period of illness that saw her in and out of hospital.
 
In honour of this struggle icon, the University of the Free State will fly its flags half-mast as a symbol of respect. 

The university conveys its condolences to the family and friends of the late Ms Madikizela-Mandela. 

The contributions made by Mama Winnie in the struggle against apartheid will live on, and the world will treasure her fierce spirit forever.

Rest in peace Mbokodo, Mother of the Nation.

CEO of Tourism SA talks about 2010 Soccer World Cup

The impact of the Soccer World Cup in 2010 on the Free State was discussed by Mr Moeketsi Mosola, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism SA, on the Main Campus of the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein.

Attending the presentation were, in front: Ms Thoko Mokoenanyna (Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee: Tourism, Environmental Affairs and Economics , Free State Province); standing: Mr Anton Fisher (Director: Strategic Communication at the UFS), Ms Phomolo Mokuele (Chief Executive Officer, Free State Tourism Authority), Mr Mosola, Ms Florein de Winnaar (Chairperson of the Bloemfontein Bed and Breakfast Association) and Mr Vincent Tsoenyane (Regional General Manager: SABC).
