The Department of Haematology and Cell Biology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS) represented the university at the finals of the National Innovation Competition, held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The competition is organised by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), a public entity of the Department of Science and Technology, which supports and enables technological innovation to achieve socio-economic benefits for South Africa. The entry from the UFS received a top-ten award with the student’s business plan titled Haemostasis testing facility. The business plan is based on the student’s master’s projects.
