Shepherds4Africa forms part of the Shepherd Centre – which offers assistance to spiritual leaders – in the Faculty of Theology at the University of the Free State. The centre provides training opportunities to a wide variety of indigenous churches. The Shepherds4Africa projects are therefore still growing and our vision for the future is that it will spread to other countries in Africa.

Sunday for Sunday, preachers are proclaiming the Gospel of salvation to thousands of people in villages and under trees throughout Africa and in our immediate surroundings. These preachers have a definite impact on the moral fibre of communities. To equip them – approximately 1 000 preachers in the Bloemfontein area alone – with skills and knowledge, is one of Shepherd's greatest challenges. Training is done by means of short learning programmes where these preachers learn about basic interpretation of Scripture, communication, and pastoral skills. A mentor is appointed to support and guide the learners. This, coupled with the course material and your financial support, makes it possible for preachers from small congregations to be trained.

Our request to you, or your organisation, is to share in this dream and become a donor of the university. Funds are immediately and exclusively available to Shepherd for this specific project. Without your support, this unique project is unable to expand and provide the necessary support to people in the ministry.

It will cost a learner approximately R6 000 to complete the full learning programmes. This includes learning materials, mentor fees, administration, and accreditation.

As a donor and partner of Shepherds4Africa, you will regularly be informed of milestones achieved. Gerhard Botha is available to pay you a personal visit at any time.
