The Unit for Human Reproduction serves as a tertiary referral unit for the investigation and management of patients with sub-fertility and complex female endocrinologic conditions as well as endometriosis.

Services include

  • the diagnostic work-up for infertility, including ultrasound, laboratory investigations such as hormone levels and semen analysis
  • as well as office hysteroscopy for the diagnosis of intra-uterine pathology.

 

Assisted reproductive techniques are offered including ovarian stimulation and artificial insemination as well as advanced techniques such as in vitro fertilisation(IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) in conjunction with the private sector.

 

A weekly theatre list is utilised to diagnose and treat female patients with sub-fertility using an endoscopic approach. Procedures offered range from diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy up to advanced endoscopic surgery including hysteroscopic myoma resection, laparoscopic myomectomy, tubal surgery and advanced endometriosis surgery.

 

The unit is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate training. Under graduate training is offered in the form of clinics, tutorials and ward rounds while the post-graduate training includes 2-weekly post-graduate discussions, multidisciplinary meetings as well as journal discussions.
