First Week Rush at Kovsies
2015-02-10

While seniors are already complaining about the beginning of the academic year being so overwhelming, we spoke to the rather excited first-years, who are a new, fresh addition to the Kovsies community, to find out how their first week of classes has been.

And we all know that it involves some of them getting lost on their way to class, while others expressed a blissful enthusiasm for the start.

This is what they had to share…

Kenny Khetsi (BEd)

“My first week was a bit rough, but luckily there were a few seniors helping me find my classes. So, hopefully, next week will go a lot better.”

Arlynn Sylvester (Economic and Management Sciences)

“My first week was kind of good, but hopefully my classes will start soon.”

Kailynne de Jager (LLB)

“My first week of class has been quite a mission, actually, but we’re getting there. Clashes and so forth are still to be sorted out, but it’s been fun.”

Johan le Roux (LLB)

“My first week of class wasn’t as hectic as I thought it would be, it was mostly easy to find my classes. So far, it is not that busy.”

Manfred Nkonki (LLB)

“My first week of class was pretty hectic. Since I am a first-year, I didn’t know where all my classes were, so getting there was a problem but I eventually got there. The working load building up is not so bad.”

Ina-Marè Kriek (BSc Biochemistry and Genetics)

“My first week was lots of fun, meeting new people and learning some interesting stuff. Mostly, I’m going around in search of the places and so on.”

Lynette Nel (BSc Biochemistry and Genetics)

“The first week of class has been very, very exciting. It was very nice to meet all our lecturers, and seeing what study material we need and what we’re going to do, what the curriculum entails. It was also exciting to see people I know sitting in class with me. If the prospects look like what they do now, then I’m very excited about being a first-year.”
