Prof Frans Prinsloo, a Chartered Accountant (SA) and seasoned academic, has dedicated over 25 years to nurturing students into graduates who significantly contribute to the economy and society. His expertise in Auditing has been imparted to aspiring Chartered Accountants at the postgraduate level across various South African universities. Many of his former students now hold leadership positions both domestically and internationally.

Prinsloo's leadership has been instrumental in shaping the future of accountancy education in South Africa. He served as the Director of the School of Accountancy at Nelson Mandela University for a decade and has held the same position at the University of the Free State since 2019.  Under his guidance, these academic units have emerged as leaders in accountancy education in the country.

Prinsloo has actively participated in the professional education structures of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors for nearly two decades. Most recently, he has contributed to developing SAICA’s  'CA of the Future' Competence Framework Academic Guidance document and SAICA’s Initial Assessment of Competence Examination.

As an author, co-author, and editor, Prinsloo has contributed to several leading texts in Auditing, which are widely prescribed at South African universities. His influence also extends to the public sector, where he has served on several audit committees.

Prinsloo has made substantial contributions to faculty management structures for over 15 years, spearheading several strategic initiatives at this level, and on several occasions, has deputised for the Dean.

Appointed as Vice-Dean: Learning, Teaching, Innovation and Digitalisation in the Faculty from 1 November 2023, Professor Prinsloo plans to introduce many pedagogical innovations successfully developed and implemented in accountancy education to other areas of economics and management sciences.
