Prerequisites for Admission

All prospective students must:

  • Apply for admission by filling out the general application forms available at student administration (admission point: 30) and
  • hand in a portfolio of at least eight works after being admitted by student administration. The portfolio must be handed in at the department Fine Arts.
  • No application will be considered without a portfolio.

The Portfolio should contain the following:

  • A drawing in A2 size, in any black and white medium, that portrays form and space. It can be a still life, landscape or a drawing of buildings.
  • A drawing in A2 size, in any colour medium e.g. pastel, that portrays form and space. It can be still life, landscape or a drawing of buildings.
  • Two drawings in A2 size, in any black and white medium, of the human figure. You are not allowed to work from photographs.
  • A Self-portrait, from a mirror, in any black and white medium and in A2 size.
  • Any three other artworks in any medium of your choice. If you want to send examples of three-dimensional works, please send photographs thereof. These photographs should be taken from at least three different angles.

The deadline for submission of portfolios is 1 November. Please send portfolios to the general departmental postal address. Students who have been selected for the course can fetch their portfolios during registration in the next year. Portfolios of students who have not been selected will be sent back, but the department will not be responsible for any losses or damage.
