South African medical aid requirements

Students on campus

In accordance with the Immigration Act, all international students must provide proof of medical aid coverage from a scheme registered with the South African Council for Medical Schemes.

The University of the Free State (UFS) only accepts South African medical aid providers. You must obtain medical aid before entering South Africa. If you are sponsored, ensure your sponsor is aware of this requirement.

Follow LINK (MAKOTI MEDICAL SCHEME excluded) for registered medical aids in South Africa. (Medical aid coverage is valid for 12 months).

Failure to provide valid medical aid confirmation letter will result in registration being denied.
