Adv Beatri Kruger

Adv Beatri Kruger is a Research Fellow at the Free State Centre for Human Rights, University of
the Free State. She served as a prosecutor, magistrate and assessor in the High Court.
Subsequently, she lectured mainly Criminal Law at the University of the Free State for 20
years. She included Human Trafficking topics in Criminal Law modules on undergraduate LLB
and postgraduate LLM level. Her doctorate study finalised in 2010 focused on the combating
of human trafficking from a South African legal perspective. She is a member of the Free
State Provincial Trafficking Task Team, the National Freedom Network and reviewed training
modules on human trafficking for key government departments. Her published articles in
accredited academic journals cover various aspects of human trafficking, and a co-authored
chapter is included in Palgrave Mcmillan’s International Handbook on Human Trafficking
(2019). She presented papers on human trafficking at national and international conferences
in Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Lesotho, Zambia, Brasilia, the United Kingdom, and the
United Nations in Switzerland.
