Mr Anele Siswana
Area of expertise: Clinical psychology and igqirha (Xhosa divine healer), gender and sexualities, queering psychology, and mental health in Africa. Masculinities (ulwaluko kwaXhosa), ingoma, koma and rites of passage
Faculty/Department: Department of Psychology
Anele Siswana is a decolonial scholar (decolonisation of psychology) whose work bridges African-situated psychology, spirituality and theology, and psychology. His interdisciplinary scholarship explores gender and sexualities, queering psychology, and mental health in Africa. His research on masculinities (ulwaluko kwaXhosa), ingoma, koma, and rites of passage (umemulo, intonjane, and other African-centred initiations) adopts a psychological and cultural lens.
 He also has an active interest in employee wellness and well-being research and is open to co-supervision opportunities in these areas.
