Mr Hendri du Plessis
Area of expertise: Construction Contract Administration, Innovation in Construction, and Learning and Teaching Scholarship in Construction
Faculty/Department: Natural and Agricultural Sciences; Quantity Surveying and Construction Management
Mr Du Plessis is currently Lecturer and Programme Director (Open learning, MSc, and PhD programmes) in the Department of Quantity Surveying and Construction Management at the University of the Free State. He obtained a master's (MSc) degree in Quantity Surveying in 2017 (specialising in Building Contracts). He has seven years of teaching experience at NQF levels 6, 8 and 9, with eight publications, of which five were conference proceedings (three x international) and three journal papers.   
 
Mr Du Plessis is also a professional quantity surveyor and construction project manager and is still active in the industry. He has worked as a construction project manager and quantity surveyor in consulting engineering for more than thirteen years. As a construction project manager, he was responsible for overseeing the construction of buildings and other structures and organising the physical and human resources involved in the construction process on the consulting side. He is also closely involved and responsible for drafting tender documentation with bills of quantities.
