Short CV

My main passions are the systematics and biodiversity of all kinds of fungi, and already started at the end of my undergraduate degree. I have expertise not only in microfungi, but also in macrofungi such as mushrooms, where most mycologists usually only focusing on one group. I have applied my skills to biodiversity but also in the applied fields of plant pathology, both forestry and agriculturally related. I am enthused to share my knowledge, and work actively to promote my field under citizen mycologists.

Research

I am a mycologist specializing in biosystematics, fungal conservation and medicinal fungi.  In the latter case, we are also active in researching psilocybin-containing psychedelic mushrooms.

Courses Presented

GENE2626 (Molecular Genetics)

GENS6824 (Molecular Biosystematics)

Community Service

I am involved with a number of citizen mycologists across South Africa. I am also active in services and products involving medicinal mushrooms with industry partners.
