An online course for library assistants was developed by the South Campus library and is managed by the SC SLP office.
Aim of This Programme
The aim of this module is to equip the teacher-librarian with basic knowledge about the administration and management of a school library.
Learning Outcomes
The candidate will
- know the technical aspects of a resource centre;
- be able to identify the different reference sources;
- be able to critically evaluate information and know the ethical aspects of information;
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of collection development for the resource centre;
- be able to do classification and cataloguing;
- be able to use the different circulation systems;
- know how to market the library and information service;
- have a sound knowledge about the maintenance of the resource centre;
- be knowledgeable about electronic publications; and
- be able to use computer applications in a resource centre.
