HIV Office Overview 


HIV/AIDS office is a Unit of Health & Wellness Centre, and its primary focus is to coordinate efforts to address HIV and AIDS. These offices play a vital role in preventing new infections, managing the impact of HIV, and promoting the well-being of individuals affected by the virus. It often works in collaboration with various departments and external organisations to achieve these goals.

Key Functions

Coordination:
Coordinate all HIV and AIDS-related activities, educational programs, and community outreach. 

Prevention:
Implement and support prevention programs, such as HIV testing campaigns and educational initiatives, to reduce the spread of HIV. 

Care and Support:
They provide or facilitate access to care and support services for individuals living with HIV, including referrals for counselling, medical, and psychosocial support. 

Education and Awareness:
To raise awareness about on the nature, drivers and effect of HIV and AIDS, promoting understanding and reducing stigma associated with the virus. 

Policy and Advocacy:
Involved in developing and implementing institutional policies related to HIV and AIDS and advocating for the rights and needs of individuals affected by the virus. 

Partnerships:
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including other university departments, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and community groups, to maximise the impact of their work.
