The Health and Wellness Department took advantage of their relationship with friend and dietician, Angelique Carson, who gave a presentation to UFS staff members about the items they should pack in their lunch boxes. Carson believes that, with the right items in our lunch boxes, we can make a healthy lifestyle easier for ourselves.

Carson started by informing the audience that, “We need a kilojoule-controlled intake of fats, proteins, and starches.” Food-based dietary guidelines was offered, which included wholegrain starches to help us stay fuller for longer, while also reducing the risk of strokes and heart problems.

Carson often reiterates that it is important to be mindful of what we put into our bodies, and added that any diet suggesting that you should cut down on certain foods is not a healthy one. - Hatsu Mphatsoe
