Health and Wellness at the University of the Free State would like to see our students well-equipped in the Human Domain, alongside being equipped in the Academic Domain.

We would love to see students leave the UFS well-prepared and ahead of students from other universities.

Life has become complex and to negotiate one’s way through life successfully and do well in both one’s career and personal life, refined human skills have become increasingly important.

We foresee a roll out of skills over a period of three years, dealing with different themes, for example:

Year 1          “Equipping first-years for healthy and effective living”

Year 2          “Equipping students for healthy relationships”

Year 3          “Equipping students for workforce”

Different role-players are involved in this project, such as Student Affairs and ourselves, so that we may provide a synergistic and complete student experience.

The rollout for 2016 is as follows:

These will be offered at different occasions and in college format.

Outcomes for students:

  • Building skills in the human domain
  • Enhancing your career profile as a career seeker who is well equipped for the multiple demands and challenges of the workplace.
  • Certificates of participation will be awarded that will form part of the candidate’s profile and distinguish him/her from other job seekers in terms of adding value to the workplace.
