South African hockey, in conjunction with Gielies Bonnet, South Africa’s women’s hockey team coach, has organised a national training course for goalkeepers to take place at the University of the Free State's (UFS) astro field. Only the top five hockey players in South Africa were chosen to participate in the training course and were trained by Joppe de Vries, the national goalkeeper trainer in the Netherlands. The course was organised to bring South African goalkeepers in line with international goalkeeping standards.
