The purpose of the WhatsApp groups is to ensure that all students in the groups receive relevant information about the university. It is also to create a community of care in the different student accommodation areas in and around Bloemfontein.

Qwaqwa Campus closed until further notice

Due to disruptions and protests on the Qwaqwa Campus of the University of the Free State (UFS), and after careful consideration of the prevailing circumstances and continued damage to property, intimidation of staff and students the past two days, the campus management has decided that it will be in the best interest of the safety of students, staff, and property, to close the campus until further notice.
Students and staff were instructed to leave the campus with immediate effect. Students were also requested to take all their personal belongings and study material for the examinations when they leave the campus. No student will be allowed on the campus until the university is ready to continue with the business of teaching and learning. The campus management will accordingly inform staff and students as to when they intend to re-open the campus.
