Matthew Abiodun Benedict is a specialist family physician. He holds an MMed degree in Family Medicine from the University of the Free State and an MSc degree in Emergency Medicine from Wits University. His teaching and research interests are in family medicine, community-based education (CBE), obstetric care and health education strategies. As an academic, Matthew mentors and supervises undergraduates and postgraduate students (registrars) to be competent clinicians that apply family medicine principles in patient care. He also supervises undergraduate students in community based education rotation (CBE) in rural communities. As a specialist, he counsels and educates patients on disease prevention and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Matthew has published journal articles and presented papers at national and international conferences. He is currently busy with his PhD studies, which focuses on prostate cancer screening among Black men.
