The University of the Free State (UFS) Department of Psychiatry is dedicated to rendering tertiary mental health services as well as world class education to under- and postgraduate students in psychiatry and clinical psychology.

The Department of Psychiatry is:

  • committed to rendering a quality specialised Mental Health service,
  • responsible for research and for the training of health care professionals,
  • committed to render a comprehensive psychiatric service to the Free State community and
  • training of under- and postgraduate students in Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences and to our mental health services.
Our vision is a mentally healthy Free State community.
