Dreams of international scholarships and attending one of the five best universities globally still come true for Kovsie students.

Former UFS student Ryan Eric Lamb is on his way to pursue a master’s degree in Physics and Engineering in Medicine at the University College London (UCL) – ranked fourth in the world in the QS World University Rankings – from September this year.

“While studying at Kovsies, it was my goal to ultimately be able to attend one of the best universities in the world,” says Lamb. “So, after a number of years, it's a dream come true to be able to attend UCL.”

Lamb was awarded the Skye Foundation scholarship to pursue a master’s degree at UCL. Along with this, he has also been accepted to stay at an independent college for postgraduate students in Central London, called Goodenough College.

“While I was on the Abe Bailey tour of the UK in 2011, we stayed at Goodenough College.

“After that visit I knew I wanted to return to Goodenough. It's an incredible institution in the heart of London with an excellent academic, cultural and sporting community.”

Lamb completed his BSc in Physics and Management at Kovsies in 2010 and added to that a B-Med-Sc Honors in Medical Physics. From 2012 to 2013 he did a postgraduate diploma in Medical Physics at the UFS, while simultaneously completing his Medical Physics Internship for the Department of Health at Universitas Hospital in the Departments of Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy.

Consequently, Lamb obtained HPCSA registration as a medical physicist. Lamb has worked as a medical physicist in radiation oncology at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Pretoria, for a company called Equra Health, since January this year until now.
