How to care for your wellbeing: Keep calm and prioritise
2015-08-01

Between the anxiety caused by tests or assignments and the looming examinations competing for space on your to-do list, as well as juggling your personal lives, the road to graduation becomes steeper. With that steady rise in pressure comes depression, in varying degrees. Our advice to you is: keep calm and prioritise.

If you feel overwhelmed and pressured by life, you don’t have to face it alone. The Health and Wellness Centre is here for you. The centre aims at assisting students to cope with social, psychological, and other related problems that may have an ultimately negative influence on their general wellbeing. Pick up the phone and call the university’s Social Worker on 073 182 3048 if you need to consult a professional. Student Counselling and Development is also at your service. Dial +27(0)51 401 2853, and find help immediately.

The F1 Leadership for Change Leadership 2014/15 Cohort has pledged support for students suffering from suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and depression by designing the #TooSoon campaign. Lethabo Baloyi, Stefan Lotter, and Jani Swarts are the campaign managers who began raising awareness of the project in residences across the Bloemfontein Campus on 29 July 2015.

Join the movement from 19-21 August 2015 at Thakaneng Bridge as these students distribute yellow ribbons - the symbol of awareness - and information pamphlets. You will receive more information about the official launch of #TooSoon, which will take place in September.

Remember to balance your day well: 8 hours work, 8 hours play, 8 hours rest.
