It was a no-brainer for Jacobus Minnaar, better known as Jaco, to study at Kovsies.
Jaco’s sister, Marisia Minnaar, as well as their father Stakesby, which is Jaco’s second name, were also part of the Kovsie family.
“The main reason why I chose Kovsies is mainly because my sister is here,” he jokes.
Top-achieving matriculant can’t wait to get going
Jaco, from Middelburg in Mpumalanga, matriculated from Hoërskool Middelburg in 2016. He knew from the beginning he was going to study at the University of the Free State (UFS) and was excited to get his journey started.
He was one of the top-achieving matriculants in the country and will pursue a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. When asked about his degree, he simply answered: “I really enjoy working with computers and cannot wait to get started.”
Looking forward to the new learning experience
Although he is not staying in a residence, Jaco has joined Veritas and is eager to make new friends at this male day-residence. He is also keen to get straight into his books and looks forward to learning a lot. “I may not have any friends just yet, but I am excited about getting to know everyone, and even more excited to learn.”
