Short CV

Marda Horn completed a B.Proc (1993) and LLB (1995) qualifications at the then University of the Orange Free State. She started her professional career as candidate attorney at the UOFS Legal Aid Clinic in 1995 and was admitted as an attorney in 1997. In 1999 she was appointed at the former Vista University in the Department of Private Law. She obtained a Masters of Private Law in 2004 at the University of the Free State (UFS). She completed a Magister Artium in Higher Education Studies at the UFS in 2009.

She obtained an LLD at the North West University in 2017 with thesis titled: “The legal effect of rights specific to sectional title property in South Africa, with reference to specific aspects of the Australian and Dutch law”.  

In 2003 Marda joined the Department of Private Law at the UFS. She teaches Law of Property on undergraduate and Master’s level as well as Sectional Titles and Share block schemes. Marda has delivered papers at a number of local and international conferences and is also the author of a number of accredited research articles. She is currently co-authoring the updating of the text book Sectional Titles and other fragmented property schemes that will be released in 2019.
