UFS-LIS Animation Leads Launch
The successful launch of the Animation leads took place on Monday, 25 July 2022, at the UFS Sasol Library.
Faculty librarians from the UFS library created the animation project that focuses on helping students access electronic resources. This was a collaborative effort with IDEA's Lab, the Fine Arts Division, the Center for Universal Access and Disability Support (CUADS), and the Drama Department. With the assistance of the library, the screenplay writer put together a script. A student from the visual arts department did the character illustrations, and students from the Drama department did the voiceovers. CUADS provided assistance in modifying the scripts for the scenes that concern disabled individuals. The animated video was created by the UFS campus' IDEA'S lab and featured narration from a librarian. The purpose of the animated video is to teach the students how to conduct library research. The objectives of the animation project are to assist students in accessing electronic resources; use of databases; enhance information and retrieval skills and apply learned skills. This video can be accessed via our LibGuides, Blackboard, via the append the library website. The LIS would like to acknowledge the various stakeholders that have made this project a reality and a success.
The LIS wishes to expand this project into a series of videos whereby the focus is on plagiarism, referencing techniques, the self-checkout system, and the Library app, etc.
