I am an astute National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher ("C2 rating") with over 28 years of experience working for academic, industry, government, national, and international organizations. I have a PhD, a master’s with distinction, Honors, and a first degree in Agricultural Economics. I am currently employed as a Full Professor at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa. As a senior researcher and lecturer, I teach classes and supervise undergraduate, master`s, and PhD students. Research methodology is one of the topics on which I concentrate and lecture. As a researcher and consultant, I work with international and local organizations as a project leader and principal investigator, contribute to publications in various fields of Agricultural Economics, and am actively involved in the writing of research proposals for funding. I have a strong background in economic research and analysis, as well as econometrics, mathematical modeling, trade and trend analysis, statistical analysis, economic and socioeconomic analysis, value chain analysis, price analysis, and forecasting.

 

In addition, I am an applied development economist who is interested in modeling (Social Accounting Matrix and Computable General Equilibrium Model (SAM-CGE), Input-Output Model (I-O), Econometrics), saving mobilization, food security, monitoring and evaluation, marketing, macroeconomics, policy analysis, finance, and development issues. I`ve published over 95 articles in peer-reviewed journal, three chapters in a book, fourteen accredited conference proceeding publications,  more than 30 popular articles (in a non-technical language as part of community engagements), five project report, two Working and Discussion papers/reports, presented at a number of international and national conferences, reviewed in high impact and Q1 and Q2 journals, reviewed projects and ratings, and supervised more than 58 postgraduate students (MSc and PhD altogether), and 38 of them completed their studies (11 PhD and 26 MSc).
