The main purpose of my research is to enhance irrigation farming profitability through improved irrigation water use efficiency. Economic optimization models are developed to provide decision support regarding crop choice, irrigation water scheduling decisions, electricity management and water allocation between multiple crops in the short-run and more efficient irrigation technology adoption in the long-run. The harmful impact of these decisions on the environment is also considered through leachate management. The research is of a multi-disciplinary nature, which requires collaboration with crop scientist, soil scientist, agricultural engineers, and hydrologists.
