Short CV

I am Henry Jordaan, an Associate Professor and the Academic Departmental Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of the Free State in South Africa. My teaching focus mainly on production economics, while my research focus on sustainable water use for food production, with special emphasis on water footprint assessment. Through Water Footprint Assessments we quantify the volume of water that is used to produce food products, and we also assess the sustainability with which water is used to produce the food products from an environmental, economic and social perspective.  I am also passionate about entrepreneurial development of small-scale farmers, and I am involved in projects aimed at empowering small-scale farmers to progress form subsistence to small commercial, and ultimately to commercial farmers.
