In this focus area the cloning and/or characterisation and/or expression of any product is a central theme. A major focus is the development and/or improvement of expression systems for the use of heterologous expression of proteins in a number of non-conventional yeast species or bacterial strains.

This focus area also involves the use of DNA and/or specific genes or gene products for the production of live, DNA or subunit vaccines.
