Wellcome funds discovery research in and across physical, social, data, and life sciences, the humanities, and clinical research. Each scheme is designed to target a different career stage, but all are open to the best ideas across a huge remit.

Wellcome Career Development Awards

Deadline: 25 July 2024 (UFS internal deadline 5 July 2024)

This scheme provides funding for mid-career researchers who have the potential to be international research leaders. They will develop their research capabilities, drive innovative work programmes, and deliver significant shifts in understanding related to human life, health, and well-being.

Wellcome Discovery Awards

Deadline: 30 July 2024 (UFS internal deadline 10 July 2024)

This scheme provides funding for established researchers and teams from any discipline who want to pursue bold and creative research ideas to deliver significant shifts in understanding related to human life, health, and well-being.

Infectious Disease Award: Understanding dengue and Zika spread, immunity, and clinical outcomes

Deadline: 25 June 2024 (UFS internal deadline 10 June 2024)

This funding call will support multidisciplinary teams to generate evidence on where dengue and Zika viruses co-circulate and investigate the implications this has on host immune responses and clinical outcomes.

Mental Health Award: applying neuroscience to understand symptoms of anxiety, depression, and psychosis

Deadline: 23 July 2024 (UFS internal deadline 10 July 2024)

This award will fund innovative projects that combine computational and experimental neuroscience approaches to improve understanding of symptoms of anxiety, depression, and psychosis.
