Dr Burgert Senekal and Corrie Geldenhuys contribute to the theme of language and cultural heritage with the work they do regarding Afrikaans literature and films. Dr Senekal makes use of information technology within the Humanities.  This includes the use of computer-assisted analysis to study the Afrikaans culture industry and the study of the Afrikaans culture as a complex network.

They are also part of a bigger project to map out and analyse the historical collaboration network in the Afrikaans culture. Dr Senekal recently launched his interactive digital database, Prisma, that shows who contributed to the Afrikaans cultural industry, for example in literature, music, theatre, and television.
