On 13 March 2025, the University of the Free State (UFS) Career Services hosted its annual EMS Career Fair at the Callie Human Centre. This event allowed EMS students to connect with top employers, explore career options, and gain valuable industry insights.

Students from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences engaged with leading firms and organisations, eager to share their expertise and discuss potential career paths. The turnout was excellent, with students making the most of the chance to ask questions, network, and learn more about what employers in their field are looking for.

UFS Career Services ran a comprehensive communication campaign in the lead-up to the event to ensure that students were well prepared. This included emails and social media updates, keeping students informed about the attending companies and the benefits of participating. An SMS reminder on the morning of the event further boosted attendance, making sure that students did not miss out on meeting potential employers.

Student feedback was positive. Many attendees highlighted the value of engaging directly with industry professionals and understanding the recruitment processes of various companies. One student shared, “I gained more insight into the different types of careers I can enter after becoming a CA(SA).” Another noted, “How to choose the company you would like to work for or do your trainee programme with, as well as the opportunities being offered.”

Career Services encourages students to stay engaged by regularly checking the Career Hub for job opportunities, internships, and upcoming career development events. Keeping connected with these initiatives will help students stay ahead of their professional journeys.
