LISTEN: Article recording of Law Career Week 2024.

On 5 and 6 March 2024, UFS Career Services hosted its annual Law Career Week. South Africa and the UFS have delivered some of the most magnificent legal practitioners who have not only made an impact locally, but also abroad. Names such as Alfred Mangena, Advocate Shamila Batohi, Bram Fischer, and Prof Danie Brand come to mind. We will always need legal thinkers and representatives, and the UFS is a proud incubator for various careers in law.

On the first day, students could attend a CV writing and LinkedIn crash course presented by UFS Career Services experts, followed by a session that helped students hone their interview skills. On the second day, Henda Kleingeld and Kutlwano Mentee shared their respective professional journeys with students – both in academia and in practice.

Students responded equally well to the content presented on both days and appreciated being able to interact with professionals in the field. They also expressed their appreciation for such initiatives and noted that they learned more about the world of work, and the legal world in particular. “It helped me realise what the end goal of my studies actually is,” one attendee noted.

Be sure to register on the Career Hub to stay in the front line of vacancies. New jobs are posted regularly – you could be one of the first to apply. The Career Hub is your partner in career success and will help you plot and prepare for an exciting future. Look out for more communication from UFS Career Services to join the next event.
