Whether you want to take part in our annual welcome function, perform in the Africa day commemoration or join our virtual book club, there is something for everyone at UFS.
During the pandemic, all our events take place online.
International student welcome function
Themed ‘’Welcome to South Africa’’ the function welcomes all first entry international students both full degree and exchange students. The theme serves in educating the students about the South African culture particularly the Free State, lifestyle, and the institution.
The function is held annually, a week after registration and all international students and their Ambassadors are invited to join.

International Cultural Diversity Festival
This standing annual event, the International Cultural Diversity Festival is celebrated on the 24th of September. Themed connecting the culture, the festival looks at ways in which one can learn, teach, celebrate and embrace all the different cultures and heritages within the UFS community. Students and staff at UFS are invited to share and teach about their own culture and heritage.
