The department offers courses on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Honours, Master's, and PhD). Helping you on this academic path, we have support and academic staff. Our support staff member is Marina Van Biljon, who is the Departmental Manager. The academic staff for the specific disciplines are:

Old Testament

• Prof Lodewyk Sutton, who is currently the Head of the Department (HOD). He is an Associate Professor and is responsible for the teaching of the Old Testament. He is also the co-ordinator and subject head for all Old Testament modules in the department.

New Testament

• Prof Francois Tolmie is responsible for the teaching of the New Testament. He is also the coordinator and subject head for all New Testament modules in the department.
• Dr Nina Müller Van Velden is a Lecturer and responsible for the teaching of the New Testament

New Testament Greek and Early Christian Greek Literature

• Annéli Machin is a Lecturer and is responsible for the teaching of New Testament Greek and Early Christian Greek Literature. She is also the co-ordinator and subject head for all the New Testament Greek and Early Christian Greek Literature modules in the department. 

The department also makes use of multiple part-time lecturers and have multiple research fellows from all over the world, who play a very important role in the research of the department.
