Women Influencing and Shaping Education
(WISE)

The launch of the Women Advancement Programme was on 5 April 2024, focusing on mid-career academic women who already have a skill set and life experience and express the need to plough back, influencing and shaping education whilst increasing their research productivity and impact as well as leadership capacity.

The aim was to create opportunities to achieve excellence in academic leadership. The envisaged outcome was to bring faculty together to form mentoring or networking relationships to exchange ideas, enhance productivity, and promote professional growth. Further, it was to create a platform where the participants can align their research focus with the changing direction and expectations of the UFS and encourage initiating, developing and implementing tangible research projects and become research leaders.
