I studied medicine at the University of Pretoria, did my internship at Baragwanath Hospital and specialized in Haematology after a year or two as a medical officer - and even a locum in the Karoo. I spent two years in the Dept. of Human Genetics at Wits and have been at the University of the Free State since 1990. I became Head of Department in November 2009 and retired at the end of May 2020

I share the research, clinical and teaching of the Department. My primary interest is haemophilia, hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia and bleeding disorders.
