The FNB Shimlas start their 2014 Varsity Cup campaign on Monday 3 February taking on FNB Wits at Xerox Shimla Park. It is one of three matches the Kovsie rugby team will play in front of a home crowd. The team will play four other matches away from home in their battle to reach the Cup finals on 7 April.
Heimat residence will fly the Kovsie flag in the Steinhoff Residence Rugby Championships starting on 17 February 2014. The team will attempt to duplicate the success of Vishuis who lifted the trophy in 2013. Steinhoff Heimat will face Steinhoff Humanities (Wits) in their first match.
A Kovsie under-20 team will face teams of the University of the Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, North-West University, University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg and the University of the Witwatersrand in the Varsity Young Guns competition. The UFS Young Guns will play their first match against defending champions, UP-Tuks Young Guns.
