Lindokuhle Mhlongo completed his undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg campus where he obtained his BSc. Animal and Poultry Science degree (2016, SASAS best  final year student in Animal Science), MSc. Agric Animal Science degree (cum laude, 2018) and a PhD in Animal Science degree (2023).  He is currently employed by the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein as the nGAP lecturer in Animal Science.
