RELIEF ASSISTANCE FOR FLOOD VICTIMS NEEDED URGENTLY
Media reports indicate that hundreds of people have lost their lives, several people are seriously injured, and some are missing. Infrastructure like homes and roads have been destroyed, leaving the surviving victims without food and other non-food items. Volunteers and experts are currently busy with mop-up operations. UFS-DiMTEC is a research, training and academic centre for excellence that strives for community resilience in all it does; please join us in achieving this vision.
Who is DiMTEC?
DiMTEC is an education, training, and research centre within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences on the Bloemfontein Campus of the University of the Free State in South Africa. At DiMTEC, we strive to educate the public on disaster risk reduction and resilience building through the Postgraduate Diploma, Master's and PhD degrees in Disaster Management, research projects, and short learning programmes (SLPs). DiMTEC’s first course was approved and registered by the South African Qualifications Authority in 2001, after which we joined the Department of Agricultural Economics with the vision of becoming an independent centre, which came about in 2005.

Our vision is to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in disaster management training, education, and research.
