Research Group Leader

The Kokonyana Research Lab has a research focus on numerical ecology, population dynamics, conservation, and applied entomology. We concentrate our research on the use of insects as bioindicator species within the agricultural and conservation sectors, especially within the Afromontane regions. We aim to do research that contributes to the enhancement of agricultural production, while reducing negative impacts on the environment.  Most of the conservation research is done in Golden Gate National Highland Park, while for the agricultural research, we have affiliations with the ARC Small grain institution in Bethlehem. If interested in working on vectors, we have opportunities to work on projects at Pretoria National Zoological Gardens. We additionally are interested in running projects in insect taxonomy, genetics, physiology, and behaviour
