• To expose you to online resources which you can use as information sources during online teaching.
• To develop your skills to evaluate online resources critically in terms of the pedagogical principles discussed in Module 2 (Pedagogy).
• To guide you to evaluate which online resources are appropriate for your particular context.

 

• There is already a lot of good learning and teaching material freely available on the internet.
• This module is about finding and evaluating resources available on the internet that can serve as information sources.
  Information sources provide information, e.g. in text or video format.
• When we evaluate these information sources, we ask:
  Do they comply with the Presentation Principles (reduce distractions, aid selection of key items, aid connection between items)?
• In the next module we look for resources for activities, which get learners engaging with the information sources we find in this module.

Activity

1. Work through the internet search tips given in the link above.
2. In this Padlet (click here), choose the column corresponding to the subject you teach. You may need to scroll to the right using the bottom scroll bar.
3. Explore the websites posted in the Padlet. Rate them according to how useful you think they will be in your context. Post comments explaining your rating.
4. Use the + button at the bottom of your subject's column to add links to websites you find useful.
5. If you appear anonymously in the Padlet, please add your name.

Assignment

1.  Make sure you engage with the material, and do the activity, above, before you do this assignment.
2. Choose a topic you are going to teach. You will develop a lesson on this topic for the rest of this course, and present it in the final module.
3. Find one movie and one piece of text which you think is appropriate for teaching this topic.
4. Copy the URLs (the link) of these resources. You need to paste these URLs into this module's Assignment.

5. Go to the Teach Online SLP Google Classroom (click here for guidance).
6. Click on "Classwork" (top, center).
7. Click on the assignment under the "Sourcing information" heading.
8. Click on the "Sourcing information" Google form. Answer the questions. Paste the URLs at the right places. When you have finished, press submit.
9. Press the black button "Mark as done" to show that you have finished this assignment. You will be asked "Mark as done?" because you haven't attached files. Don't worry, you don't need any files attached, so press "Mark as done" again.
