Training of elected student governance structures and committees

Format: Workshops across campuses, including:

  • institutional/induction training
  • structure-specific training:
    • governance and policies
    • portfolio-specific roles and responsibilities
    • operational procedure
  • leadership skills development
  • inspirational/refresher sessions

Goal: To have fully equipped and functional student governance structures

Purposeful training for specific situations/outcomes/preparation

Format: Presentations/workshops/dialogues

Goal: To reach institutional goals; prepare students for specific events and campaigns; address specific student needs; discuss important/topical student-life matters

Pre-Elections Training (PET)
- PET Session 1: July
- PET Session 2: July/Aug
- PET Session 3: Aug
Preparing for Candidateship Commitment to Ethics and Integrity Global Perspective: Leading in Interconnected Societies
Ad hoc training as per request/need, e.g.:
- Accessibility training for residence heads /RCs
Determined in collaboration with Center for Universal Access and Disability Support (CUADS)
- Series of talks (1 per term) ‘What Students Should Know About’ Term 1: Human rights
Term 2: Protesting
Term 3: Intersectionality and diversity
Term 4: Legalisation of marijuana in South Africa
