STUDY BURSARY APPLICATION FOR MEMBERS/DEPENDANTS

If the member’s application is approved, payments will be paid directly into the member’s bank account (EFT).

The following documents must accompany the application:

* Proof of registration
* Statement of academic progress from previous study; or grade 12 certificate (in case of 1st year)
* Proof of earnings - parent/guardian (member)
* Proof of earnings of the spouse of parent/guardian – if applicable
Other, such as motivation for application

* Applications must include all above-mentioned documents and applications without the required documents will not be considered.

As parent/guardian/member/student I hereby give permission to an authorized UVPERSU office bearer to enquire about academic records with regard to the qualifications requirements.

Criteria

  • The bursaries are applicable to first and honors degrees only. The Bursary Committee can exercise its discretion in this regard as well as with regard to the amount of each bursary.
  • If a person resigns as UVPERSU member within 2 years of receiving a bursary, 50 % of the amount received must be paid back to UVPERSU. If a person resigns as UVPERSU member within 1 year of receiving a bursary, the full amount received must be paid back to UVPERSU.
  • At least one of the bursaries will be awarded for achievement/merit. The Bursary Committee can exercise its discretion in this regard to determine the nature of the achievement. 
  • Financial circumstances and income will play an important role.
  • Single parents - proof must be submitted.
  • Extraordinary merits/circumstances will be considered.
  • Proof of academic progress in respect of the previous year or first semester (where applicable), or a Grade 12 certificate, where applicable, must be submitted.
  • The bursary will be paid in one instalment. Satisfactory academic progress is a prerequisite (all subjects must be passed.)
  • The bursary is valid for one year.  Applications must be submitted each year. 
  • A maximum of two bursaries per family will apply.
  • A committee of UVPERSU will consider the applications.  The decision of the committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
     

Comments

  • Applications should be complete. Proof of income, staff number, registration results, and a letter of motivation must be attached. 
  • INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

In this case, consent is required for the purposes of processing your bursary application.  It will be impossible to process your application without getting your consent to use the personal information as stipulated and required on the form.   

We will not use, sell, or provide your personal information for any other purpose or reveal it to any unauthorized third parties, but UVERSU needs crucial information in terms of stipulated criteria to come to a fair and just decision in awarding bursaries.

No incomplete application will be considered.
