The AAPD, is a NQF 5 short learning programme aimed at providing introductory training to participants that will enable them to fulfil their role as academic advisor practitioners. It introduces and provides participants with:

  • Informed knowledge and understanding of the concepts and theories related to academic advising 
  • Informed knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities as advisors,
  • The ability to engage, disseminate and use information in practice
  • The ability to integrate technology tools to provide support in their role as academic advisors; and
  • The ability to reflect on and learn from best practice to continuously grow in the field and practice of academic advising 

Facilitated by central office academic advisors, AAPD sittings take place biyearly and additionally upon request.
