Research:

I am an industrial psychologist and hold a PhD in Industrial Psychology from the University of Fort Hare. My teaching and research interests fall within three themes, namely positive psychology, more generally, and in terms of employee and educational coping strategies and wellness; inequality, diversity, and inclusion; human capital development and transformation. My teaching philosophy is rooted in providing my students with the information, tools, and skills they need to be successful in a rapidly changing environment, which is becoming increasingly globalised and automated. As an industrial psychologist, it is important to me that students not only learn psychology and management theories, but also get the chance to practise the theories and concepts, as well as to engage with real-life organisational scenarios and personalities.

I am supervising honours, master’s, and PhD students in the department. Furthermore, I am serving in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences Ethics and Exams Committees.

In addition to my academic position, I am actively involved in empowering youths in the community through career counselling. I am also involved in the diversion and reintegration of youths in communities, as well as programmes geared towards addressing school violence.
