Welcome to the Afromontane Research Unit: A continental leader in African mountain research....

The ARU is a decentralised model in that academics, postdoctoral fellows, and post graduates sit within the faculty, while the management of the ARU is extra-faculty. The ARU thus comprises a team that is found in most faculties within the UFS, but also includes external research associates and a suite of external collaborators. Currently, the ARU complement of academics, postdoctoral fellows, postgraduates, and research associates consists of 70 people.
