Information

The PhD with specialisation in Drama and Theatre Arts can be obtained through a thesis or three interrelated publishable manuscripts/published articles in accredited journals. Students must agree upon a topic with the academic head of department or a promoter (appointed by academic head of department), and must conduct research and produce a thesis of merit.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the requirements as presented in 1.4 under General Information of the Faculty of Humanities Rule Book, students must also comply with the following prerequisites:

To be admitted to the PhD with specialisation in Drama and Theatre Arts, candidates must hold one of the following qualifications:

  • an MA (Drama and Theatre Arts) at Exit level 9;
  • any appropriate Exit Level 9 qualification, subject to preliminary assessment and/or additional study, to be determined in consultation with academic head of department

DRMD9100 - Thesis Drama and Theatre Arts (PhD)

Option 2:
DRAD9100 - Drama and Theatre Arts (PhD) Article option - Three interrelated publishable manuscripts / published articles in accredited journals

Additional Information/Assessment

Students are assessed by means of a thesis or three interrelated publishable manuscripts / published articles.
